How to read the results

Where they come from

EPA's fifth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5) sampled every community and non-transient water system serving more than 3,300 people, and about 800 smaller ones, for 29 PFAS between 2023 and 2025. Water system details come from EPA's SDWIS records. The Planner rebuilds from both every month.

How a system is screened

For PFOA and PFOS, each sample point's results are averaged, counting results below the reporting level as zero. A system shows Above 4.0 ppt when any sample point averages above the limit EPA set in 2024.

What it doesn't tell you

It is a screening result, not a compliance finding. The rule judges a running annual average at each entry point, from the system's own compliance monitoring, and some systems have added treatment since they were sampled. Nothing here is legal or engineering advice.
